8-13s Foundation Athletics Group

“Laying down the foundations for a lifetime in athletics”

Lead Coaches- Margaret Milne and Maureen Crowe.

We would love to welcome you to our 8-13 Foundation Athletics Group. We are a friendly, inclusive group covering all disciplines of athletics from sprints, hurdles and jumps to throws and endurance.  We follow the UK Athletics 365 programme which is based on the philosophy that young athletes need to develop their movement skills by taking part in a range of athletic activities.  Our aim is for the children to have fun, learning the basics of athletics and developing those skills further to enable them to progress into our successful junior groups.

Having fun in the sun at local track meetings….
Our club cross country race for local primary schools….

Our very experienced UKA qualified and DBS checked coaches encourage competition at an appropriate level for all children.  Some of our members have never competed before and get their first taste of competition at low-key local open track and field meetings and inter-school cross country competitions.  However, we also field teams in national and regional championships and our U11 boys team were 2018 Merseyside and North West Road Relay and North of England Cross Country Relay Champions.  So whether your child just wants to get fitter, make friends and have fun or compete at the highest level, there is a place for you at Wirral AC.
